Introduction

The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH is a federally owned international cooperation enterprise for sustainable development with worldwide operations. The GIZ Office in Kigali covers GIZ’s portfolio in Rwanda and Burundi. GIZ Rwanda/Burundi implements projects on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development, the European Union and other commissioning authorities in the following priority areas: Sustainable Economic Development; Good Governance; Climate, Energy and Sustainable Urban Development; Digitalization and Digital Economy; and regional projects in the Great Lakes Region.

The Women’s Economic Empowerment project intends to procure a contractor for the provision of a hydroponics system.

1. System Capacity & Performance

Daily Fodder Yield: 686 kg
Tray Capacity: 400 trays
Fodder Growth Cycle:
Cows (Milk & Beef): 7 days
Pigs, Rabbits, Goats, Sheep: 6 days
Poultry: 4 days
Fish: 3 days

2. Input Requirements

Seed Input per Tray: 1.5 kg – 2 kg (Maize, Wheat, Barley, Sorghum)
Harvested Fodder per Tray:
Poultry: Minimum 6 kg (4th day)
Cows: Minimum 13 kg (7th day)
Water Requirement: Plain potable water
Decontaminants: Vinegar (acetic acid)
Cleaning Agents: Soap for containers and hygiene maintenance

3. Material Requirements

The system should be constructed using the following materials:

1. Fodder Trays:

Material: Aluminum
Capacity: Holds 1.5 kg – 2 kg of grains per tray

Plastic Incubators
Plastic Germination Chambers
Plastic Incubator Covers

3. Shading & Structure:

Black Shadenet (45%-50% shade level)

4. Additional System Requirements

The system should support controlled temperature and humidity to enhance germination and growth.
Adequate drainage and aeration to prevent mold and spoilage.
A system layout that facilitates easy harvesting and cleaning.
Compliance with food safety and hygiene standard

5. Installation & Maintenance Requirements

Provide installation services and ensure the system is fully operational.
Training for system operators on fodder production, maintenance, and hygiene.
Availability of technical support and spare accessories.

6. Warranty

Warranty: Minimum 1-year warranty on all structural components and operational defects.

N.B:

The bidder should include the transportation and installation cost of the goods to the premises of WVO Ltd in their bidding price.
The bidder should include a picture of the proposed item in their bid.

1. Timeline

The contractor is expected to deliver the item within two weeks from the time they receive the local purchase order (LPO)

2. Delivery Location

The goods will be delivered to the Wood Valley Organics (WVO Ltd) farm office, House No. 191 located in Karambo Village, Mbandazi Cell, in Rusororo Sector, Gasabo District Kigali.

Submission of offer: The Expression of Interest should contain the following:

Company registration certificate (RDB)
VAT-Registration Certificate
Latest tax clearance certificate

Your EoI has to be submitted on email to RW_Quotation@giz.de until 13/04/2025 The financial offer has to be submitted in PDF format and the price must be in Rwandan Francs and VAT excluded (if applicable) and as attachment to the email with the subject: Financial offer 91187197
